Hey internet, it's me, Shab, founder of Beating Lights. In case you missed it, I'm currently wandering abroad and managing BL from afar. I've been in Ireland for the past month, roaming Galway, writing my own music, meeting musicians and feeling too many feelings. I planned this trip for different reasons than those that I eventually came for, and it's been interesting trying to grasp that change. The change, naturally, has everything to do with Beating Lights and what's been going on with it in Los Angeles. A lot has been happening both behind the scenes and in the streets ever since May when I got some newfound gumption in my step, and BL got some newfound vigor. I honestly wasn't in the mood to pick up and leave my life, even just for this 3 month-trip. But alas, I had a plane ticket so why not hop on the plane, I guess?
So here I am in Europe, roaming. But not without purpose! I can't sit still, and my mind can't stand still. So I'm making the most of it.
Last night I booked my friend Sarah a show at a tea shop, and asked 2 local artists (now friends) to play as well. The vibes were great, the music was all pretty magical, and the night was a great way to begin capping my time in Ireland. Life in Galway is lowkey; everything runs slower than LA and it's been swell to take a step out of the LA grind to think about what I'm doing, what I'm saying, and what more I can bring into action with Beating Lights. In conclusion: 2016 is going to be grand. *Stay Tuned*
In the meantime, here are some photos from last night, and some music for you to check out:
Here's Whim, aka Sarah DiMuzio, my friend from Portland whom I cam on this adventure with, and whom I will be leaving here in Galway, while she makes a life for herself for one year:
And cheers to the new friends I've made and the new music I've found here in Ireland. It's been lovely, and I'll see you when I see you::
Next week I'm leaving Ireland and moving onwards through Europe for a few weeks. Stay connected with me on instagram (@shabferdowsi) and snapchat (@beatinglights).
