I'm excited to announce Beating Lights' next band residency with LA-based riot pop band WASI during the full month of April!
WASI is Merilou Salazar and Jessie Meehan who both grew up in the OC, and began playing together in high school almost ten years ago (their 10-year anniversary is actually this month!). They've been making waves in the DIY scene both in the OC and LA, and make great efforts in connecting and building true relationships with their fans.
WASI came into my life last May. They emailed me with their EP Bleedpop, wanting to connect with Beating Lights in a bigger way. They had heard about BL through their friends in Kid Cadaver and New Beat Fund who had both played BL shows that Spring, and wanted to get involved. Timing was perfect because they were about to play their EP release show with Kid Cadaver, who I had befriended by that point. So a few hours before the show, I met up with the band for an interview at a coffee shop in Echo Park, and we instantly connected.
They're some of the sweetest gals I've met in the music scene, and they're becoming some of my greatest friends. So to say I'm stoked to spend April with them is an understatement!
They've got a ton of stuff happening this month. The stuff is going to be awesome. Stuff like a music video shoot, a handful of shows, a house party, recoding sessions and other stuff.
So stay tuned for more stuff from them on Beating Lights!
