An Interview w/ American Authors

We all met at Berklee College of Music in Boston ma in 2007 and had played in a number of projects together since then. We decided to pursue our musical careers in Brooklyn, NY in 2010 which is where we met producers Shep Goodman and Aaron Accetta. We spent the majority of our time writing and recording new songs and somehow a demo of Believer got in the hands of Jeff Regan and Alt Nation. They started playing the song and we were fortunate enough that listeners took the track with positivity which brings us to where we are today.

What’s your favorite thing about being on tour?

We love being able to meet and make connections with so many different people each night. It’s great getting to share our music with different groups each night.

What inspires your songwriting?

We’re inspired by so many different aspects of life. Whether its traveling, personal frustrations within ourselves, or all the events that are constantly happening that change the way we lead our lives, we like to incorporate it all in our music.

Who are you listening to most right now?

Currently a lot of alt nation (and alt nation bands). The mowglis, a silent film, royal teeth, the 1975, and the neighbourhood are great. I’m currently listening to the new James Blake album while writing this!

What’s your idea of a perfect concert performance?

It’s always great when the audience gives off a strong energetic energy. It always helps us take our love energy up to the next level.

What’s been your favorite show/city to play at thus far?

We’ve never played California and seriously every show we did there (4 total) were amazing. It seems that the west coast really has an amazing appreciation for live music and it was great to be a part of it for the beginning of our current tour.

Anything big coming up?

We finished recording our entire album so that should be coming out soon in the near future. Other than that more touring, festivals, swimming, rock climbing, and looking forward to meeting everyone who comes out to see us on the road!
