SXSW // Preview: We Found New Music Official Showcase 2016

words by Shabnam Ferdowsi

I'm headed to Austin this week for SXSW for my first time ever and I'm so stoked! Aside from the plethora of bands I'm going to see and people I'm going to meet, I'm thrilled to be helping my good friend Grant Owens, creator of We Found New Music, at his official showcase.

This Wednesday night at Speakeasy , WFNM has curated a rad line-up of artists from around the world for the good vibes. Beating Lights will be co-supporting the show with Free Bike Valet, I Heart Moosiq and  Liberal Arts! I'll be up right by the stage photographing the live performances, as well as backstage helping Grant film artist interviews.

The second OPEN HOUSE night at the Study on July 31st brought a diverse lineup from Moons of Mars' electro-pop dance beats, to the Cold and Lovely's low key grunge, Island Apollo's powerful indie-rock , and finally to WASI's energy-fueled pop punk. As usual, DJ Grant Owens of WeFoundNewMusic was on the decks in between sets spinning some real fun indie remixes. Basically, the last thursday of the month, you better be at the Study! It's a showcase for the indie-music lovers out there, craving for the next best sound, the next best vibe. Can't to see what more awesome bands go through!

Here are some of my favorite shots from that night.
